Roskilde Countdown #1: We Are The Way For The Cosmos To Know Itself

Roskilde Countdown #1: We Are The Way For The Cosmos To Know Itself

It’s that time of the year again. Roskilde Festival released their line-up this week and here at Chasingthefox we saw that as an opportunity to dig deep in the program.

To do that we’ll repeat the concept from last year. So we’ve asked this year’s Roskilde-artists for their recommendations for the 2014 Roskilde Festival.

First off is a group that we’re excited to get familiar with this year. And so should you. We Are The Way For The Cosmos To Know Itself is standing in front of their breakthrough and their journey begins with a single release next month followed by a concert at the popular Nørrebro-club Rust in Copenhagen and of course their performance at Apollo Countdown in their homeland of Denmark.

WATWFTCTKI’s sound is by Roskilde defined as ‘astronomical techno’. That’s fitting to say the least. They’re looking forward to:

I Break Horses
Swedish duo from Stockholm who album-debuted back in 2011. They followed it up with their second album this year called ‘Chiaroscuro’. Here’s some electropop for your ears from that album:

Deerhunter

From Sweden we jump to the US and some indie rock. Bradford Cox in front of this five mand band is being compared to both Iggy Pop and Karen O at the same time. Intriguing. Their growing fanbase have seen this Atlanta-group warming up for Arctic Monkeys and now getting booked for Roskilde.

We know this is not an original track, but with three Roskilde ’14 acts compromised into one track we at Chasingthefox couldn’t let it go:

Slowolf

Through Sweden and America we end this little journey right here in Denmark. Danish music lovers will recognise Copenhagen producer Slowolf’s ‘See U In My Dreams’ from 2012. A big hit. We’ll however show of his remixing skills doing over one of last year’s Roskilde acts on this Swimming Pools remix.
